Friday 1st April, Day of Fools, my late grandmother’s day of birth and the very first day of my retirement. All the fuss of the day before over, farewell speeches made, nice evening out for a meal and drinks with my recent work mates, now the reality of being unemployed and NOT looking for work begins. So how did my first day go? How did I feel? No there was no waking up to the sound of bells, clear blue skies or any other film or computer special effects, just felt like I was having a day off. I suppose it will eventually dawn on me at some point – my feeling is about the middle of the month – after all at present it just feels like I am on a holiday – albeit one that should last the rest of my life (a long one I hope).
Nothing special today – just the mundane tasks of getting the finances sorted, closing down accounts and setting up trusts.
